V Festival Latest News

John Williams - Wednesday 13.08.08, 13:47pm

V Festival headliners Muse have revealed that they have been forced to scrap plans to land UFO’s on the audience at the festival.

Muse singer Matt Bellamy told the Daily Star, “We’re trying to get a UFO to come in, Health and Safety as usual are ruining it all. I’m not sure V are quite prepared for us.”

The singer also revealed that the band have “redesigned the whole stage,” and are “bringing in loads of props that won’t be on stage but around the venue.”

Bellamy says that Muse will not be playing any new material at the festival, “We’ve written a lot of new songs but we’ve bottled out of playing them live because, from past experience, we’ve ended up hating some of our favourites by the time we recorded them,” he said.

Other headliners at the festival The Verve, have denied rumours that they will be cancelling their appearance, following obscure reports that guitarist Nick McCabe had been sectioned, following the band’s gig at the Summer Sonic festival in Japan.

A spokesperson for the band has since told NME, “Contrary to rumours circulating Nick McCabe cut his finger on piece of glass in the dressing room after the gig in Japan, He was treated by medics at the scene and then flew home. He’s fine except for sore finger and that won’t effect their appearance at V at the weekend.”
