After my last post regarding Scarlett Johansson recording an album of Tom Waits covers, I couldn’t resist the temptation of adding a Tom Waits video to the blog.
Where to start with Tom Waits huge catalogue, is a problem so I have gone for a track that some will know as a rather more tuneful Rod Stewart cover, Downtown Train. There is only one version worthy of listening to and here it is.

In the mid-1980’s I went through a “Tom Waits period” and loved the more accessible Rain Dogs & Swordfish Trombone albums.
But like Frank Zappa & Captain Beefheart, though I respect their work, find his less commercial work can be hard work.
