The King Blues are based in Camden, London. Their single, Let’s Hang the Landlord, was played twice on Radio 1 last night by Zane Lowe and Mike Davies.
XFM are also plugging the band; and so are we.
The King Blues evolved from the squat scene in Hackney and are fronted by Johnny “Itch” Fox. The band themselves are outspoken on a number of social issues which have affected them in the past and are affecting people every day.
The music reminds me of early Generation X and the energy and controlled aggression of The Clash circa 77-78 when they still had the fire in their bellies and before the money started rolling in.
Here is a video of The King Blues playing their forthcoming single, My Boulder (to be released in October) from a gig on a barge at Camden Lock on 30th July. The single is going to be massive. A great sing-a-long chorus that is going to lend itself quite easily to football terraces up and down the country.
Don’t miss the boat, The King Blues are going to be big!
