Damon Albarn and his band The Good, The Bad And The Queen have joined the line up for the Love Music Hate Racism Carnival 2008, which takes place at London’s Victoria Park on April 27th.
Following Pete Doherty’s recent incarceration, The Babyshambles have been replaced at the gig by Helsinki. They will feature guests including Andy Nicholson, former Arctic Monkey, Jon McClure of Reverend and the Makers and other members of Babyshambles.
Others appearing on stage are Jerry Dammers, Hard Fi, Jay Sean, Patrick Wolf, Roll Deep and The Paddingtons.
Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell said: “This has got to be the most important event of the year. Dozens of the best acts around, a huge celebration of multicultural London, and a chance to help stop those BNP racists gaining a foothold in the capital.”
This years concert will celebrate the 30th year of Rock Against Racism events. The first in 1978 featured The Clash and saw 100,000 protesters take to the streets of London.
