Leeds and Sheffield based indie rockers Volcanoes have released the latest in a line of glorious EPs, Sugar & Snarls boasts yet another quartet of passionate and infectious tracks that twist and turn with refreshing honesty.

Level Up and Fret in the Half Moon are the lead tracks from the EP, good solid guitar driven tracks that given the chance will form a permanent place in your head and possibly also in your heart.

Pigs in Blankets and Fathom make up the four songs on Sugar & Snarls,  each track showcasing the maturity and creativity of Volcanoes, a band that refuse to be left standing and are determined to push the boundaries of the UK indie scene.

Since forming in 2005 Volcanoes have built a solid reputation on the road, supporting the likes of Arctic Monkeys, The Maccabees, Hot Club de Paris, Big Pink and Little Man Tate.

The infectious charm they carry combined with their overflow of energy and enthusiasm has led to the mass of support across the country from their ever increasing fan base.

They are a determined and busy band and when they are not out playing Volcanoes spend much of their time in the studio, writing and recording, with a great catalogue of EPs waiting to be discovered.

The bands previous EP release in October 2009, Shaking That Brass, earned them plenty of media support including airplay on XFM radio, courtesy of John Kennedy and NME Radio’s Best of MySpace podcast with Gill Mills.

The band were invited to feature in session on BBC Radio Sheffield, BBC Raw Talent Introducing (broadcast on BBC Leeds and BBC Hull) and BFBS Radio. Volcanoes were also featured in 2009 as one of Edith Bowman’s ‘Bedroom Bands’.

With the release of Sugar & Snarls, Volcanoes will be hoping for more of the same support from UK radio and I expect that these tracks will be greeted with at least the same fervour as the previous EP.

You can catch Volcanoes live on the following dates:
April 30th – Dublin Castle, Camden
May 30th – Carpe Diem @ Leeds Festival Fringe
June 10th – Pulse Bar, Barnsley
June 19th – Wyeside, Hereford
