Since the release of their last album A Hundred Million Suns in October 2008, Snow Patrol have been performing around the globe on their Taking Back The Cities Tour, an open ended string of concerts and festival gigs that is still going strong almost a year on.
The tour is the collective name of many smaller tours and festivals Snow Patrol have played in support of the album. One of the smaller tours is known as the Reworked Winter Tour and will take place in venues across the UK and Ireland throughout November and December.
The Reworked Winter Tour will be a special Snow Patrol tour featuring the band playing reworked versions of songs spanning their whole career including songs from The Reindeer Section.
The Reindeer Collection is the name given to the Scottish alternative indie rock ‘supergroup’ formed by Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody in 2001 and featuring band members from Scottish bands including such luminaries as Belle and Sebastian, Mogwai, Idlewild and Teenage Fan Club.
Snow Patrol will include a strings and brass section through the tour and possibly a choir or at least backing singers to help rework the old songs.
Snow Patrol have recently finished a successful summer Festival Tour which started in South Africa in April at the Coca Cola Festival and ended in August with the band bringing the house down at Chelmsford Essex at the V Festival.
The band had stood in for Oasis as headliners at the V Festival and revelled in the 90 minute long set, ending with top renditions of Oasis songs Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova to a thunderous reception.
