The London based ‘dream jazz’ outfit Polar Bear have announced that they have joined the Leaf Label and will be releasing their fourth album through Leaf early next year.
The acclaimed jazz band are led by drummer Sebastian Rochford and features Pete Wareham and Mark Lockheart who both play tenor sax, Tom Herbert on bass and Leafcutter John on electronics/guitar.
Polar Bear’s second album Held On The Tips Of Fingers in 2005 was a Mercury Prize Award nominee and also featured on a list of ‘100 Jazz Albums That Shook The World’ in Jazzwise magazine.
The band are about embark on an extensive UK Autumn tour that kicks off at the Croydon Clocktower on September 25th and includes a date at London’s Jazz Cafe in November. Expect a unique and attractive blend of contemporary jazz, indie and electronica.
