Paul Weller has a habit of drifting away and re-emerging when least expected with something to blow your socks off.
His latest single wil be a double A side, with Have You Made Your Mind Upon one side and Echoes Round The Sun on the other, and is released on May 26th.
Echoes Round The Sun is a collaboration with Noel Gallagher and is from the forthcoming Weller album 22 Dreams, which is out on June 2nd.
Here is the video for Paul Weller – Echoes Round The Sun. Its pretty good too!

Sounds like Paul Weller has swapped his Small Faces albums for The Stooges!

At 50, Paul Weller has perhaps thrown all caution to the wind… A devoted fanbase, no need to chart, worth around 16million quid (conservative estimate), brand new band line-up with the exception of lead guitarist, Steve Cradock, and I have to say I’ve never seen him look so sharp and energetic as he is now, well not since the Jam days. Spot on, and Eton Rifles was outstanding (see one of many Youtube clips from this tour/Hammersmith). He’s become a bit of a national treasure, albeit gruff and beligerent. It really was a blow-away concert, full of every musical influence he’s ever embraced (typical of Weller- the personal reinvention of others’ styles), with electronica (???), classical, R&B, and an amazing circa 68 Pink Floyd moment in the middle of a 2 and a half hour non-stop set. If I am half as energetic at 50 I shall be pleased…
So ‘22 Dreams, due out next Monday? A 70 minute concept album including instrumentals and spoken word. A piece which charts the chaging of the seasons in 2 cd takes, which he says should be listened in one go. Sounds interesting, so we’ll just have to wait and see!
