Oh No Ono are a five piece band from Aalborg in Denmark, their music is intricate and otherworldly, yet built on strong melodic foundations. Their music is both original and inventive, while the band itself defies convention and expectation.
Oh No Ono release their first single for The Leaf Label this week in the form of an iTunes exclusive digital download and video. The track Swim is released today and is taken from the forthcoming album Eggs, scheduled for February 2010 release.
Already music stars in their homeland, Oh No Ono are hoping to repeat that success globally in 2010, through the release of the album and extensive touring through the year.
The video to accompany the track Swim, was made by Danish director Adam Hashemi, who has used a childhood experience to fit the eerie unsettling feel of the song to create a unique and unforgettable video. Hashemi explains;
“The video is loosely based on my very first childhood experience, when I was three, I witnessed a nurse die of a heart attack. However, I used that idea in a different context. It’s about your first sexual experience as a child, and the shame that comes with it. Also, I set out to explore the subject of sex related to death, and how they, for unknown reasons, seem to go hand in hand.”
Deliciously dark stuff!

What a relief, at first glance I thought Yoko had put out another album. I’m glad that’s not the case (no offense to John, but I just never “got” her).
