Former Doors keyboard player Ray Manzarek has spoken about a new Doors documentary film, currently untitled, that will chronicle the bands career. The film is currently in production and should be out in around six months.

Manzarek said he had seen the first cut yesterday and “it’s looking real good.” The new film will feature a large amount of rare footage, and will tell “the true story of the Doors. This is the anti Oliver Stone” version  said Manzarek.

It is 41 years since the release of the Doors’ classic self titled album and there are several band orientated  projects to mark the anniversary.

The Classic Album DVD  from Eagle Rock is already available,  focusing on the Doors 1967 debut. There is also a just released ‘live ‘ album featuring the Doors in 1970 during their final US tour, entitled ‘Live In Pittsburgh 1970‘.

Manzarek is still performing and touring with ex Doors guitarist Robbie Krieger as part of the band Riders On The Storm, who will play in Europe during the summer.
