Birds Eye View celebrates international women filmmakers with its fifth London film festival at BFI Southbank, ICA, and Picturehouse cinemas.

Nine days jam-packed with over 70 events including top US indie features, hot Sundance docs, world-class shorts, exclusive director masterclasses and training, plus one-off live music-film events, moving image innovation, fashion films, parties and much more.

Music Loves Video is part of the fifth London film festival and takes place at the ICA on Saturday 7th March between 4-6PM.

Celebrating the best women filmmakers from around the globe, Birds Eye View will again be screening world-class films from world-class talent, with events taking place at the BFI Southbank, ICA, The Gate cinema (Notting Hill), and Picturehouse Cinemas across the UK on International Women’s Day (March 8th).

A specially selected crop of the best recent music promo videos celebrating the dazzling creativity of women in music video, including Trudy Bellinger (Girls Aloud, Sophie Ellis-Bextor), Kinga Burza (Katy Perry, Kate Nash) and Ali Taylor (Emiliana Torrini, Shitdisco) will be shown.

This music in video event offers an eclectic mix from this ever-innovative medium, from the latest low-budget debuts, through inventive animation to full-scale choreographed productions, including exclusive premieres and a directors Q&A session hosted by journalist and broadcaster Miranda Sawyer.

The directors in conversation will be Trudy Bellinger, Kinga Burza, Ali Taylor and Shelly Love.

Trudy Bellinger
Few people have influenced the music video industry in the UK like Trudy Bellinger. Trudy’s directing strengths lie in beautifully developed colour palettes, stylised fashion details, and tight choreography. Her spectacular video for Girls Aloud Sexy No No No won the Virgin Media Award for Best Video of 2007.

Kinga Burza
Kinga has since shot videos for Katy Perry, Ladyhawke, Kate Nash, Calvin Harris and The Teenagers. Kinga’s first foray into the American market, for Katy Perry’s ‘I Kissed A Girl’, scored her a huge number one video in the US, as well as FIVE nominations at the 2008 MTV VMA Awards. Her work has been feature in i-D, Dazed and Confused, NME and Promo.

Ali Taylor
Ali has been commissioned as a filmmaker and artist by a variety of clients from Channel 4 to Vivienne Westwood. Alongside filmmaking she’s established herself as an illustrator and designer, having been published in various magazines from Dazed to NINSDOL.

Shelly Love
Shelly is an award winning prolific artist and director who was formerly Artist in Residence at The Place in London. Her films screen regularly on the international film circuit and have been described as ‘otherworldly’, ’suicarprising’, ‘magical’ and ‘beautifully dark.’
