Led Zeppelin ready for rescheduled O2 concert

Terry Lane - Tuesday 20.11.07, 15:58pm

Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin to play O2 Arena London 10 DecemberAfter postponing the most eagerly awaiting reunion gig of the year, possibly new millennium, Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page has told reporters that his fractured finger is ok now and the band will resume rehearsals this week. The rescheduled O2 Arena concert will take place on 10 December.

The guitarist, told Reuters “I suppose something like a Zeppelin reunion wouldn’t be right without a bit of drama.”

Led Zeppelin, who have sold around 300 million albums, plan to perform one “new” track for the first time at the O2 Arena gig, 27 years after they disbanded after the death of drummer John Bonham. His son Jason will affectionaly stand in for the reunion gig in aid of a charity for the late Ahmet Ertegun, who originally signed them in 1968.

Page told reporters “There’s one number that we rehearsed, I assume that it will make it to the Dome, that we never played at any point in time.” The new song dates from when the band was together between 1968 and 1980. Page added “It’s a really intense number.”

As well as the concert, Led Zeppelin have released a compilation album “Mothership,” a remastered version of the concert film “The Song Remains the Same” and the soundtrack to the DVD.

Tickets for the one-off concert are like gold dust. Demand was so great that the website crashed when millions of fans tried to log on. The Canadian Leader Post reports one fan has paid £83,000 pounds for two tickets in a charity auction.
