The Last Shadow Puppets played a surprise gig at the Park Stage at Glastonbury on Saturday night. Their debut live performance was a fairly well kept secret, though rumours began circulating when Miles Kane & Alex Turner were seen together at the festival on Saturday morning.

The Raconteurs and White Stripes main man, Jack White, joined them on stage as they played a well received acoustic set. Songs were taken from the album The Age Of The Understatement, as well as a cover version of Billy Fury’s Wondrous Place.

The Last Shadow Puppets will be performing live shows in August, followed by their first European and American shows in October/November. The band, Alex Turner and Miles Kane, and live musicians James Ford (drums), John Ashton (keyboards) and Stephen Fretwell (bass) will be augmented by a full 16 piece orchestra at each show.

The Portsmouth and Oxford shows will precede the band’s festival appearances at this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals. The band will then return to mainland Europe (following August’s Paris show) and Britain in October for a series of headlining dates. The band then travel to America for shows in New York’s Grand Ballroom and Los Angeles’ elaborate Mayan Theatre.

The tour will round up at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on Sunday the 26th of October. Full dates as follows:

Tickets for all UK headlining shows will be available from usual outlets on Saturday the 5th of July from 9.30am.
