The latest single release from James Yorkston will be the limited edition 7″ Martinmas Time, taken from the the forthcoming album Folk Songs. This is the fifth studio album from Yorkston and sees him teaming up with The Big Eyes Family Players on an album of traditional songs. Folk Songs is released on August10, while the single Martinmas Time will be available on August 3.
Limited to 300 copies, James’ version of Martinmas Time, learned from the singing of Anne Briggs, is backed by Nottanum Town, which is also taken from the Folk Songs recording sessions. Each 7” comes in it’s own unique sleeve – 300 blank sleeves have been sent out by James Yorkston & James Green (aka Big Eyes) to friends and family to be designed, desecrated, doodled & decorated on. Already with their crayons to the ready are King Creosote, The Pictish Trail, Lone Pigeon & Steve Mason. Who knows which one you’ll get?!
