After her recent appearance on BBC tv’s Later With Jools Holland and current UK tour supporting The Young Knives, the gorgoeus Norwegian pop sensation with a twist, Ida Maria Sivertsen sees colour in music and ends her gigs covered in blood, according to The Times Online.

The 23-year-old Norwegian singer is the latest European popster to reach our shores with big commerical expectations, but some believe she is about to take the UK charts by storm; and in some ways her band remind me of Blondie – good punk pop music with a sexy, charismatic frontpiece.

The Ida Maria Sivertsen band is Ida Maria – guitar, vocals, Johannes Lindberg – bass, backing vocals, Olle Lundin – drums, backing vocals, Stefan Törnby – lead guitar, backing vocals.

Self-confessed influences include: Elvis Presley, Iggy and the Stooges, Black Grape, Charles Bukowski, Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground, alcohol, The Smiths, Arvo Pärt, Fiona Apple, Led Zeppelin, The Kinks, The Strokes, Sugarcubes, Television, and the film Twenty Four Hour Party People.

By listening to songs on Ida Maria Sivertsen’s My Space page you will hear some Sugarcubes/Sundays influenced sugar-coated sweet pop songs such as Any Given Way, along with harder punk pop tracks such as Oh My God and Better When You’re Naked.
