This is my first taste of Minneapolis based High On Stress, it is their second album and is called Cop Light Parade.

Track one is the title track Cop Light Parade, a lazy easy rock song with a sing a long chorus and twangy guitar, somewhere between indie pop and alt.country, it’s also an excellent taster of what’s to come.

While the pace of the album moves around, the album has a homely laid back feel throughout, regardless of musical style.

Nick Leet the lead singer and song writer has an excellent and compelling voice, reminiscent of early Mick Jagger at times and later Billy Corgan, even though completely different musical styles.

The uptempo My White Pagesis a great rock track on which Leet is at his best, but the standout tracks for me are the moody We Could Have Been Nobody and the final track called simply, Track 12, which just seems to finish the album off perfectly.

For fans of Steve Earle, Ryan Adams and John Cougar, this will I am sure be a welcome addition to your listening collection, although I would say Cop Light Parade veers more towards Indie Pop and deserves to be heard by a wider audience than the alt.country fans.

Listen to the track Cop Light Parade at the High On Stress MySpace site and see if you agree, you can purchase the album here.
