Frank Turner - Poetry Of The Deed

Frank Turner has released Poetry Of The Deed through Xtra Mile Recordings/Epitah Records in UK and Ireland and through Epitaph/Xtra Mile Recordings for the rest of the world.

Recruiting his outstanding live band for the recording process Frank Turner, along with Grammy nominated producer Alex Newport (Death Cab For Cutie, At The Drive-In, Two Gallants) has managed to capture the essence of Frank Turner’s powerful and gritty live shows on this his third studio album.

The result is a big, lush album that showcases Frank Turner’s growing maturity as a songwriter.

From the country ramble of the first single to be taken from the album, The Road, to the garage punk anthem Try This At Home which reminds me of Turner’s American friends The Gaslight Anthem; and the the political protest of Sons Of Liberty to the anti-folk pop manifesto of the title track, Poetry Of The Deed is set to establish Frank Turner as a great songwriter and hopefully his music to a wider audience.

I hear echoes of  Billy Bragg and Tom Robinson in both Frank Turner’s protests and contemporary voice of reason.  He is swimming in an otherwise murky world of mediocrity.

The album release in the USA coincides nicely with a support tour with old friends The Gaslight Anthem in September and in the UK with his largest headline tour to date.
