Crazy Arm release their second single, Henry Fabian Flynn, on 2nd November 2009 on Xtra Mile Recordings.
Henry Fabian Flynn is available on download-only format, the single comes with two new b-sides, Roasting River and Poverty & Spit.
Henry Fabian Flynn has a folk rock sound reminiscent of the guitar powered rock of The Gaslight Anthem and also early Stereophonics.
Paying tribute to the folk-roots stylings of Dick Gaughan, Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs et al, Henry Fabian Flynn may seem like a rebel song at first glance but is, in truth, of a more sensitive nature.
It might even be about loyalty. Not a guilt-stricken sense of national loyalty that makes people want to wave silly little plastic flags but a simple, everyday loyalty that puts compassion over country.
Henry Fabian Flynn is the second single to be taken from the band’s debut album ‘Born To Ruin’ – a steamrolling, roots-punk opus that draws on a myriad of diverse influences ranging from ‘60s country-rock to hardcore punk to crunchy, guitar pop with a passionate allegiance to grass-roots politics.
Roasting River and Poverty & Spit, are two older unreleased songs, written in 2005 but still possess the same folk/rock sound of Henry Fabian Flynn, with Poverty & Spit showing an err towards a more thrashy garage punk with a vocal delivery reminiscent of Jello Biafra of The Dead Kennedys.
