Before the release of his new album The Politics of Envy (due out March 26th via Future Noise Music), Mark Stewart has joined forces with fellow subversive musical compatriot Bobby Gillespie and Primal Scream, to release a new single ‘Autonomia.’

Directed by Douglas Hart, original bass player with The Jesus and Mary Chain, the video exhibits a raw, riotous & feverish vivacity infused with the artists’ trademark punk rock ethos to convey the song’s deep political message.

Written about Carlo Giuliani, an autonomist protestor killed in the 2001 G8 demonstrations in Genoa, ‘Autonomia‘ features Bobby Gillespie’s frenetic call-and-response chant with Mark Stewart.

Mark Stewart explains that when he started writing the song

“It was kind of like a protest song … afterwards I started getting on with Bobby, who was interested in politics and I asked Adrian [Sherwood] about doing it. It’s important that people hear about the story, it’s the message and the atmosphere as much as anything.”

“Starting out as a teenager in the late 70s with the Pop Group and thru the 80’s with the Maffia up to his new solo record, Mark Stewart has led the attack on conformist reality. Mark is a constant inspiration and a true Thief of Fire. A poet of paranoia and a great laugh. What a guy.” – Primal Scream

Joining Bobby Gillespie and Primal Scream on the album is cult film-maker Kenneth Anger, original Clash/PiL guitarist Keith Levene, NYC punk innovator Richard Hell, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Gina Birch of the Raincoats, Slits bassist Tessa Pollitt, Jesus And Mary Chain bassist Douglas Hart, Factory Floor, and Daddy G of Massive Attack. r dub vibe. Throbbing bass lines and crisp snares were tangled with

Guitarist Joel Schneider and drummer Ethan Jacobson epitomize the purest distillation of rock, blues, and garage punk. Their sonic chemistry became immediately apparent when they began playing together as My Goodness. Think Jon Spencer Blues Explosion head on collision with White Stripes with bigger balls!

“Schneider struts and hollers, the quiver in his voice and the confidence in his bluesy guitar swagger are reminiscent of Jon Spencer’s brash balls, but with more Fugazi-esque finesse,” says DJ Hannah Levin following a live in-studio session with KEXP. “He and drummer Ethan Jacobsen […] have that unmistakable lightning in a bottle quality.”

My Goodness was cited by U.S City Arts magazine as one of 2010’s best new bands. They are described by Chris Kornelis, Music Editor for Seattle Weekly, as a band who “[…] packs an incendiary live show to further the parallels,” and as “the standard against which I’m measuring everyone else doing rock in Seattle,” by Josh Lavseth, co-founder of Sound on the Sound.

My Goodness have just released their debut, self-titled album with Seattle label Sarathan Records.

Pump up the volume & watch the video for the single I’ve Got a Notion and make up your own mind. Fuzzy guitars & pounding drums… we think they’re awesome.

Having released the second single Deadliest Catch from their upcoming second album this week, Lower Than Atlantis have announced that they will be streaming the new album World Record ahead of it’s release on April 25th.

You can hear the new album in its entirety on the Lower Than Atlantis My Space now, before its official release date on April 25th.

The bands intense bond with their fans is set to shine through with the music video for ‘Deadliest Catch’ for which they are accepting fan submissions to be included in the lyric-themed concept.

From the opening life-on-the-road anthem ‘(Motor) Way of Life’ right through to closer ‘R.O.I.,’ ‘World Record’ is an album bursting with exuberance and packed with massive rock hooks. Lower Than Atlantis prove that they’ve hit their stride, honing their songwriting skills to pure brilliance following the release of 2010’s critically acclaimed debut ‘Far Q.’

High octane tracks like first single ‘Beech Like The Tree’ and ‘Bug’ appear alongside more contemplative compositions like ‘High At Five’ – the sound of a band carving out their own identity in today’s music scene – and ‘Another Sad Song’ which is as melancholy as its title suggests. Despite the contrasting dynamics on the album, one thing that all the tracks have in common is a keen sense of melody and crafty riffery, backed up by a rhythm section that pulls no punches.

Mike Duce (vocals/guitar) says of the progression the band have made for the creation of this album:

“Writing was pretty natural because we’re with each other so much, we’ve all been listening to the same music and had the same influences. When it came to working on the songs, we all kind of knew where we were going. Recording was very efficient! We’d already demo’d the album live and then in a studio before recording the real thing so we knew exactly what we were playing and how we were playing it.

The tunings for most of the songs have dropped two whole steps to add a darker feel. The tempo of the songs has slowed down too to give a more powerful feel and to make sure the listener definitely has time to get the message. There’s less of a jokey undertone lyrically so I guess it’s more ‘grown up’.”

Lower Than Atlantis – Deadliest Catch

Lower Than Atlantis look set to ride high on the wave of new British rock talent with this collection of songs, having already picked up some serious airplay on the likes of Radio 1, Scuzz and Kerrang!

Touring is next on the agenda for the band who are currently on a mammoth tour of the USA supporting Asking Alexandria. When they return to the UK, LTA will head straight out with We Are The Ocean for a string of dates in their homeland to coincide with the release of ‘World Record.’

The band have also been announced to perform at several summer festival’s including slot on the Pepsi Max stage at Download on Sunday June 12th as well as dates with Futures and Set Your Goals.

They make a bit of an odd couple but the Kingston Ontario based duo PS I Love You sure know how to kick out an incredible noise as you can hear in the video ‘Get Over‘ shown below, an incredible taster from their debut album Meet Me At The Muster Station which is released on April 26th.

The ten track album is a relentless listen that grips and pulls the listener through just under thirty-minutes of squalling Marshall feedback, searing solos, soaring melodies and rock-steady beats that will surely be considered one of this year’s finest debuts.

Originally the solo project for multi-instrumentalist Paul Saulnier who has performed in everything from a country-rock band to an improvised noise duo, PS I Love You was intended to be his experimental, pop music outlet using guitar looping pedals, keyboards with some gadgets and gimmicks. The addition of Benjamin Nelson on drums suddenly transformed the bands little songs into mini, soaring rock anthems.

On the album’s release in North America last year Meet Me At The Muster Station drew critical praise from the likes of Pitchfork, Village Voice, NME, Eye, Exclaim, Now, Toronto Star, The Fly, Gigwise, LA Weekly, SF Weekly, Portland Mercury, San Diego City Beat, The Stranger, Washington Post, Brooklyn Vegan, Consequence of Sound, PopMatters, Pop Tarts Suck Toasted, CMJ, Prefix, Treble, and KCRW.

Exclaim called it the number four album of 2010 and added;

“It’s hard to believe that the stunning Meet Me at the Muster Station is PS I Love You’s debut. Arriving fully formed, this Kingston duo delivers its catchy hooks with brute force, pummelling listeners with fuzzy guitars and thundering rhythms. And even if you won’t be able to sing along with frontman Paul Saulnier’s strangled yelps, songs like “Facelove” and “2012″ will be stuck in your head for weeks. Savage noise freak-outs have never sounded quite so palatable.”

New Jersey’s loudest and proudest math rock exponents The Dillinger Escape Plan have announced the release of a brand new video made to accompany the track Gold Teeth On A Bum, a track that features on their 2010 album release Option Paralysis.

The video was filmed in Italy during the band’s Autumn 2010 tour and is directed by Salvatore Perrone. It captures perfectly the band’s intense, visceral technic as well as their musical diversity and Greg Puciato’s near legendary growl.

Together with the accompanying light show the video is a six minute excursion into the insanity that is The Dillinger Escape Plan live!

Filthy Love is the infectious new single from We Are Enfant Terrible which is released on March 28th on Last Gang Records.

The track is an irresistible slice of infectious 8-bit electro-pop with a dark hypnotic undercurrent, the French trio is comprised of three Lille natives – Lead singer and keyboard player Clo Floret, guitarist Thomas Fourny and hyper wild drummer Cyril Debarge.

Synthesizing their shared passion for underground fashion, video games, and wildly-thoughtful dance music the band concoct an intoxicating blend of sex, sass and sleaze to send your pulse racing with as much passion as Little Louis’ ‘French Kiss.’

Perhaps the best way to describe Filthy Love is to let the band tell you what it’s all about:

“It’s a “minimal electro dancing” track which talks about contradictions and the stupidity of life and how we try to deal with it. Sometimes you need (or think you need) love so much that you take any piece of love even if it’s filthy and doomed because you always try to see the tiny coloured and hopeful things when your life is a black and white movie (like our video clip). And then, even in the dark, you’ll find your own way into light and happiness.”

Consisting of ex members of The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, UNKLE and NIN the Brighton five piece Bad For Lazarus will release a lo-fi EP displaying their softer ‘minimalistic’ nature, a challenge that the band set themselves before unleashing the full hardcore of their full album later in the year.

Frontman Rich Fownes says; “The challenge was to write something in a minimalist, softer style that isn’t completely horrible, I don’t think there’s anything worse than when a good rock artist ‘gets sensitive’ and trades their wit and style for introspection and general wussyness. Once we took on the challenge for nothing more than fun, and our guards were down, we were quite amazed with our own results.”

Indeed, ‘25’, sacrifices none of the band’s signature swagger, yet converts the shouting and feedback (well, most of it) into soulful doo-wop through a fuzzy rock ‘n’ roll lens. Reflecting on the EP, Fownes picks out some personal highlights;

“There are many special moments; from the barber shop breakdown in ‘25” to the ’shooby-doo-wahs’ of ‘Cozy’; where we had come many steps closer towards realizing our original intention of mixing Motown, light-hearted humour and rock ‘n roll sensibilities. It seemed ideal, and delightfully backwards to release these songs as a collection of their own, before the initial album statement had even been made.”

The EP 25 features five excellent tracks that retain the Bad For Lazarus scuzzy rock credentials while showing a quieter more melodic garage rock style that will surely endear them to a wider audience.

Here is the brand new video to accompany the second track on the EP, the wonderful Tom Waits-esque Jon vs Apocalypse:

Bad For Lazarus have built a reputation through heavy touring and 2011 will see more of the same with UK dates in March, April and May already announced:

Produced by Mother Mother’s own Ryan Guldemond and mixed by Mike Fraser, the 12 new tracks that comprise the album surpass their predecessors with a greater sense of cohesion, exuberance and overall sonic depth. Guldemond, the group’s chief songwriter and front man describes the album as “a vivid depiction of where the band’s at right now, which is the height of our musicianship, song writing and strength as collaborators”.

In the signature Mother Mother animal themed vein, Eureka’s cover art portrays a techni-coloured Lion, baring its teeth. Female vocalist / synth player, Molly Guldemond (she and Ryan are siblings), is the resident artist in charge. “Our new songs are bolder and more animated, so I chose to use vibrant neons and brighter colours than ever before,” the multi-talented artist/musician reports. “The word ‘eureka’ suggests epiphany and exciting discovery. The lion represents the animal instinct in us to pursue these breakthroughs; a predatory sense to hunt for deeper truth”.

Although principally an upbeat collection of songs, the dark lyrical tone, a signature element of the MM package, is alive and well in the album’s wordplay. The Stand, Eureka’s incredibly addictive lead off single is an urban hip hop tinged tale of a “misanthrope who corrupts the minds of two young school girls” as described by Ryan, who wrote most of the song in his head as a “silly rap style thing to bide time in transit.”

The album’s first track, “Chasing It Down”, laments the demise of the newness in things, while wearing the skin of an epic, Deep Purple-esque rocker, complete with a formidable organ hook. The quintessential slow song, “Born In A Flash”, might just be the band at its most haunting and morose ever as this piano driven heavyweight marches through a versatile landscape of lush strings, choral beegees, and a killer back beat and bass line. “Simply Simple” is just that, a perfect advocacy of the ‘less is more’ doctrine, while the dreamy “Getaway”, with Molly singing lead in her unique, gentle timbre, is the plight of an escapist.
