Frank Turner’s dream of reaching mainstream popularity continues to grow with the announcement that due to popular demand he will be performing at the O2 Brixton Academy on December 12th this year.

This news is announced following Turner having sold out his gig at London’s Roundhouse venue two months in advance. The Roundhouse show takes place as the finale of his current UK tour, on March 24th.

The Brixton show will be his largest headline gig so far and an incredible achievement considering his humble beginnings of playing tiny venues, house parties, pubs, car parks and anywhere else that would have him – only a few years ago. Testament if ever there was need for one, that Frank Turner has turned underground cult status into a mainstream success story.

To coincide with his March tour Turner will release a live version of the track Long Live The Queen, recorded at his Shepherds Bush Empire show in October last year. The single will be available as a digital download and a limited edition 7″ vinyl, from March 22nd.

A DVD/CD Take To The Road will also be available from March 22nd, featuring the entire Shepherds Bush gig as well as his performance in the more intimate surroundings of the Union Chapel last Christmas. The DVD also includes promo videos, diaries, photos and interviews. The bonus CD features the audio from Shepherds Bush.

Following the tour Turner will release the beautiful single Isabel on April 12th, the third track to be released from the Top 40 album Poetry Of The Deed. All Frank Turner recordings are available through Xtra Mile Recordings.

Frank Turner has released Poetry Of The Deed through Xtra Mile Recordings/Epitah Records in UK and Ireland and through Epitaph/Xtra Mile Recordings for the rest of the world.

Recruiting his outstanding live band for the recording process Frank Turner, along with Grammy nominated producer Alex Newport (Death Cab For Cutie, At The Drive-In, Two Gallants) has managed to capture the essence of Frank Turner’s powerful and gritty live shows on this his third studio album.

The result is a big, lush album that showcases Frank Turner’s growing maturity as a songwriter.

From the country ramble of the first single to be taken from the album, The Road, to the garage punk anthem Try This At Home which reminds me of Turner’s American friends The Gaslight Anthem; and the the political protest of Sons Of Liberty to the anti-folk pop manifesto of the title track, Poetry Of The Deed is set to establish Frank Turner as a great songwriter and hopefully his music to a wider audience.

I hear echoes of Billy Bragg and Tom Robinson in both Frank Turner’s protests and contemporary voice of reason. He is swimming in an otherwise murky world of mediocrity.

The album release in the USA coincides nicely with a support tour with old friends The Gaslight Anthem in September and in the UK with his largest headline tour to date.
This immediately catchy slice of Folk/Punk is taken from Frank Turners forthcoming album Poetry Of The Deed.

Poetry Of The Deed, Turners third album will be released a week after the single on September 7. Grammy nominated producer Alex Newport( Death Cab For Cutie, At The Drive-In, Two Gallants) was drafted in by Turner to capture the essence of his live shows on record, the results are a big, lush album that showcases Turner’s growing maturity in song writing and style – perfectly.

The Road is accompanied by a video of Frank’s quite honestly mental attempt to play 24 shows in 24 hours. This involved posting a request on his blog for a load of London-based places where he could come and play a few songs. Tiny front rooms and kitchens, roof terraces and warehouses, music magazine offices and a record store were all donated and Frank played them all, culminating at a crowded and raucous finale at North London’s Flowerpot venue. Absolute lunacy!

Having just finished a US tour supporting The Offspring, Turner continues with an impressive tour of the UK and USA starting with UK Festival dates in August and then supporting good friends The Gaslight Anthem on their US tour in September. Turner will then start his biggest UK headlining tour to date, including an already sold out date at Manchester’s Academy 2 and finishing at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire.
