Brigadier Ambrose are from Chatham, Medway in Kent. Their music has certain elements of what has become known as the Medway Sound.
Police is two minutes of great garage pop. The track has a lovely sounding grungy garage guitar, sixties hammond-sounding organ and is backed by a lively upbeat tempo. You can imagine this being a live favourite that warms the cockles of every crowd with its chant P-O-L-I-C-E!
The band formed in late 2005 and have been receiving accolades and radio time from dj’s such as Zane Lowe, Mark Radcliffe, Huw Stephens and Phil Jupitus.
Airplays on Radio 1, BBC 6 & XFM has helped promote the band over the past year or so, as well as appearing at Alan McGee’s seminal Death Disco.
This summer they have been busy playing festivals such as ZOO 2006, Lattitude and Lounge In The Park. The well received set at Latitude was later played on Radio 1.
They have apparently already turned down two record deals this year and continue to release material through their own Brigadier Records.
Police / There’s Been A Murder In Nasons will be Brigadier Ambrose’s fourth single, released on 1st September, though Police was originally released on the b-side of their debut single, How Popular You Are.
You can listen to Police on the Brigadier Ambrose MySpace site.
Brigadier Ambrose will be playing in London for Club Fandango on 10th September at the 229 on Great Portland Street.
