This time of year music magazines and websites are awash with best of the year lists, so here goes.
I would prefer to call this my favourite albums of the year rather than best albums of the year. I would also like to include a list of albums I would like to have heard, but haven’t got round to it (if I had they may well have made the main list). I would also like to include albums I listened to but either, wish I hadn’t bothered or that I feel fell short of expectations.
Albums of 2007 I would like to have heard, but haven’t – so can’t pass judgement:
Bjork – Volta
UNKLE – War Stories
Groove Armada – Soundboy Rock
Caribou – Andorra
Robert Wyatt – Comicopera
Elliott Smith – New Moon
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss
Albums of 2007 I heard, but ether wish I hadn’t or fell way short of expectation:
Arctic Monkeys – Favourite Worst Nightmare
Radiohead – In Rainbows
Underworld – Oblivion With Bells
Chemical Brothers – We Are The Night
Deadbeat – Journeyman’s Annual
My Favourite Albums of 2007 (no particular order):
Band Of Horses – Cease To Begin
Jamie T – Panic Prevention
Kings Of Leon – Because Of The Times
Bloc Party – A Weekend In The City
The Good, The Bad & The Queen
Grinderman
LCD Soundsystem – Sound Of Silver
The Shins – Wincing The Night Away
Feist – The Reminder
Klaxons – Myth Of THe Near Future
The View – Hats Off To The Buskers
Arcade Fire – Neon Bible
I’m sure I’ve left some out. Let me know if you agree or disagree.
