I’ve just heard the future of rock n roll…. and it’s called Band Of Skulls!

Band Of Skulls recently received unprecedented attention for a new band when their free mp3 download, I Know What I Am, was featured as the iTunes Single Of The Week.

Band Of Skulls are a tight three-piece from Southampton.  I Know What I Am is a raunchy foot-thumping, bass drum kicking stomp of a rocking garage blues tune. Both musically and vocally this track reminds me of the White Stripes. Yet,on other tracks I feel the power and intensity of Radiohead and The Kills.  Now, I think you’ll agree, as reference points go, that’s not bad.

Band Of Skulls are Russell Marsden (guitar and vocals), Emma Richardson (bass and vocals) & Matt Hayward (drums). The twin vocals work perfectly. Great voices, perfect harmonies.

Band Of Skulls have started to build themselves a live reputation, mainly playing Southampton and London.  Though they have recently spread their wings to play well received shows as far and wide as Moscow, Tokyo and the Viper Room in Los Angeles.  They are already booked to appear at some summer festivals, including Latitude.  I predict this band is going to be big news so don’t miss your chance to see them in a small venue.

I Know What I Am comes from the forthcoming spendidly titled debut album, Baby Darling Doll Faced Honey.
